The Most Important Election Ever

In the United States, this is the most important election ever.

Really.

At least that's what everyone keeps on saying.  Of course, that's what they said four years ago, too.  As well as four years before that, and...

In fact, I can't think of a time when a US Presidential election was not billed "As the most important election ever."

That meas one of three things:
a) Each election is more important than every election that preceded it.

b) It's all hype and hyperbole.

c) Those who make such claims are delusional.
Frankly, I'm leaning towards C.

Although it is true that the outcome will be historic (either the first African-American US president or the first female US vice-president), it is not the most important election ever.

It's just another election, no more or less important than those that preceded it.

I will, however, be more happy than ever before when it's over!
