I Blog, Therefore I Am
I'd been thinking about blogging for a couple of years. First, I had to wrestle through some tough questions:
1) Did I realistically have the time to make regular entries?
2) Could I come up with interesting or compelling ideas?
3) Would anyone read my blog?
My family is amused by all this. They act as though I am being self-indulgent, have nothing interesting to share, and will be read by no one.
The ample encouragement I have received from readers of Connections Magazine, AnswerStat magazine, and My Article Archive (now Article Weekly) convinced me that concern # 3 is a none issue.
Next, I spent December on the lookout for topics. I averaged one good idea a day, so concern # 2 got checked off as well.
That left item # 1: time. Frankly, I need to work on that. Some people contemplate what they want to write, then sit down and spew forth eloquent prose. Not so with me. I think by writing, going through an iterative process of 1) write, 2) edit, 3) repeat. My first blog entry was revised six times; the second, four. I will need to streamline the process to more quickly write well. That will be a work in progress.
It was René Descartes who said, " I think, therefore I am." Since I think as I write my blog, it in a very real sense becomes "I blog, therefore I am."
Good Day
